- 1.5 pounds of 80% lean ground beef
- 3/4 cup Italian rusk
- 1 egg
- 1 block (8 ounces) Colby Jack cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 1/2 to 1 cup A1 steak sauce (I prefer 1 cup but it's stronger)
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 2 tbsp dried onion chopped
- Taste for salt
- Try pepper
- Optional 10 pieces - bacon,
Steps to prepare a steakhouse cheeseburger
- I like to keep a picture of everything I used together in case I forget an ingredient later!
- If adding bacon, cook four strips of bacon until really crisp and cool, pulling apart with a fork or your fingers. Save the remaining 6 to finish the burger later
- Add all the ingredients to the meat and mix well
- Cut the meat in half, then divide each half into three equal parts
- Flatten each pancake about ½ inch and press your thumb in the center to make a hole. This will prevent the burgers from shrinking too much as they cook
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and sear 3 burgers at a time. When the cheese is dripping, it's golden and sticking to the burger, it's good and tasty!
- Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until desired doneness. Try a meat thermometer to be sure!
- I add the bacon and cheese to the pan on top, then add some water and cover for a quick 30 seconds until the cheese is completely melted. Let the burgers rest on absorbent paper for a minute or two until dry
- Add your favorite toppings (just onions, lettuce, and other steak sauces) and enjoy!
Additionally, you'll find that as you gain experience and confidence, you'll improve as you go out and tailor recipes to your personal taste.
