Pastichio is a classic Greek pasta dish baked in a deep oven. This dish is filled with tube pasta or any other long pasta you can find at your local supermarket.   20. Water
  21. bechamel sauce
  22. 6 glasses of milk
  23. 3-5 tablespoons butter
  24. 14 tablespoons flour
  25. salt, nutmeg
  26. 2 beaten eggs
  27. 4-5 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  28. 1 handful of grated cheese

Steps for making spicy pasta.

  1. First of all, to start our pasticcio, we need to season it with meat sauce. Let's start by cutting the onion, our fresh tomatoes, into square cubes. Add enough olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan and add the onion, stirring until golden brown.
  2. Add beef/veal to pot or pan and stir, add all listed ingredients (except eggs and breadcrumbs) and stir. Add enough water to completely cover the mixture and bring to a boil. Don't forget to mix.
  3. Hints. If you are going to use tomato paste instead of fresh tomatoes, add the tomato paste to half a glass of water. Stir until the paste is dissolved, then add to the sauce.
  4. We take out our frying pan, add 2 teaspoons of salt and a little oil and cook the pasta. Drain and save for later. Take an oiled mold and sprinkle it with a handful of grated cheese. When done, add the pasta and spread all over the pan, add 2 beaten eggs and stir until the eggs are blended into the pasta. Sprinkle some more grated cheese on top, then add the meat mixture and spread over the pasta. Save
  5. Hints. Adding eggs keeps the pasta together.
  6. Add all the ingredients for the béchamel sauce, except for the flour, to the saucepan. Stir and bring to a boil, start adding a tablespoon at a time and keep stirring so the mixture doesn't thicken too much. As soon as the sauce thickens, remove it from the heat and slowly pour it over the meat mass, starting from one edge of the pan to the other. Repeat the process until you cover the meat sauce.
  7. Sprinkle with grated cheese and breadcrumbs, and you can send to the oven. Baking time: about 1 hour.
  8. Hints. I like to add a beaten egg to the béchamel sauce before topping it with grated cheese and breadcrumbs. Gives a darker tone.
